This first year was a tremendous learning curve for this new team.
Jamie and Scott's first run ever was actually at Blackbushe during the Christmas holiday of 2001.
The day proved to be very eventful,it was very cold and damp.
Jamie suffered from a sticking throttle all day, as the carb was actually icing badly, and dad had no idea how to deal with the problem.
Overall the first taste of karting just wetted the appetite and created a hunger for more.
Jamie's first full season was very fruitful and quite a surprise. Our plan had been to progress out of novice as quickly as possible. This and more was achieved with ease, including several best novice awards and a number of very good placed finishes.
The year proved to all that Jamie Garvie was here to race and here to stay, as the confidence just grew and grew, his ability to give good and accurate feedback back to the team about what he wanted and what he needed was getting better all the time.

We started 2003 with a nearly new Sodikart-H4 which we bought from George Robinson, a contact that was proving invaluable.
The kart was mint and was a huge step forward for us, it was a full senior chassis and we started the year by running in the engine that had spent all of 2002 in the van. Right away we were more than on the pace, we were the pace, and the boost to Jamie's confidence was inspiring. Jamie went on to give James King something to think about evey time he took to the track.
Had Jamie not missed a round while on a football trip to France he would have almost definitely have won the Club Championship in 2003.
Like Scott finishing cadets in 2002, Jamie's days as a junior would be over all too soon, we would have really preferred one more year as a junior to have really built on the confidence and communication skills before moving up to seniors.
As it was the year proved to be really good stepping stone and the move to senior racing was being planned.
Jamie enjoyed running high gears and working to maintain good corner speed in order to get a top speed run past his opposition, a technique that did not really suit Clay Pigeon, where results were always that bit more elusive, but it was always a good test as the competition at Clay was more like national level than at the Forest circuit.

We had serious reservations about racing senior level at all, as we had often witnessed total carnage during several Senior Max races, an alternative had to be found............
The Biland 250cc 4 stroke looked like an extremely likely possibility for quite some time.We tested several times with Saxon Motorsport, but at the end of the day we had a new Sodikart SR4 waiting for the Biland engine that we could never quite afford.
Super 2 for 2004 was the plan, but in the end we did one round on a hire kart from Saxon. The sound was superb and we all loved it, Jamie went really well over the weekend at Fulbeck, in what was his introduction to senior level racing. He still finished 7th overall in the Super 2 series for 2004 with his score from that first round. AWESOME !!
We had to cut the cloth to suit the costs in the end and it was a Rotax FR125 that finally got bolted onto that brand new SR4, we could not run to Super 1 budget and we had been too long sorting the funds for it anyway, we did the Max Challenge series and a few other choice events around the country, the year again proved to be successful, we learned new circuits and were very close to the pace at all the venues. We got more exposure got ourselves noticed and laid the foundations for 2005.
Jamie knows full well that there is a lot to learn and he soaks it up like a sponge.
Jamie's first full season as a senior had been terrific, OK we had no titles, but Jamie could run with the best of them.
The Biland was a taste of what could have been, and the results in the Senior Rotax Max Challenge yielded 9th place overall.
First season as a senior and only his third season in karting at the age of 16, excellent work and great effort.
Yet again he had proved to all that Jamie Garvie was here to race and here to stay, as his confidence grew, he began to mature into a very wise racer.
We also took part in the first ever 24hr kart race to be held in the UK, this was at Rowrah in Cumbria, a long trek from the south coast for a long race.
Brilliant event but needs a decent budget and some decent engines too !!

For 2005 we are doing the MSA B4 Group Super 1 series for Rotax, and the UK Max Challenge.
have scored more points. We came away from Shenington very disappointed with a below par performance and a below par result Jamie wanted more and he will be all the more determined at the remaining rounds.
